Head-Mounted Displays |
General Reality Company has been producing several different versions of its CyberEye, the world's first virtual reality HMD under $2,000 for over five years. Our latest CyberEye models still provide the world's leading line of low-cost commercial-quality HMDs.
Why CyberEye? Wear and Compare!
Our CyberEye HMDs are designed for unsurpassed performance in demanding extended-wear tasks, and are guaranteed to provide the brightest, sharpest, most colorful image of any HMD below $5,000, or we will immediately refund your purchase price. Our unique headband assembly offers superior comfort, and provides the most complete set of adjustments in the industry. We also provide a one-year warranty against defects, the longest in the industry.
The most important consideration in selecting an HMD is avoiding eyestrain. In recent independent tests, CyberEye HMDs were found to cause LESS eyestrain than a conventional CRT display for periods of use ranging between 30-90 minutes. One has surgeon used a CyberEye HMD for as long as 8 hours without a break, and reported no visual fatigue.
The key technical trade-offs to understand when selecting an HMD are 1) wide field-of-view and sharp resolution are mutually-exclusive, and 2) wide field-of-view, sufficient eye-relief for eyeglasses, and a wide exit pupil for ease-of adjustment are mutually-exclusive. CyberEye HMDs are designed to push the envelope of these trade-offs through superior optical design, which also minimizes distortion, image blur, and color errors. CyberEye models feature near-infinity focus to minimize eyestrain.
The new CyberEye CE-500S HMD provides the first high resolution, SVGA (800x600) display for under $2,750. The CE-500 offers a 28 degree diagonal field of view, and will be available in stereo and binocular models. This robust design has been developed specifically for professional use in exhibits, museums, LBE centers, simulators, research laboratories, and in arcade game applications, and will be available in May 2000.

User's ManualCyberEye CE-200S
The CE-200S offers the lowest-priced HMD available that accepts separate left/right eye inputs, and is identical to the CE-200M in all other respects. By accepting separate inputs for each eye's display, the CE-200S provides the ability to use a separate graphics rendering pipeline for each eye - which can double frame update rate and/or scene polygon count, while eliminating the annoying flicker often found in sequential stereoscopic formats.
